Paste options not appearing in MS Word

In microsoft word 2002 SP3 running under windows XP I cannot get the Paste
Options to appear. I have marked the buttons "Show paste options" and
"smart cut and paste" under tools/opions/edit. I have no problem with the
Paste Options tag in MS Excel on this machine and the same Office XP pro
package. Is it possible to fix this via regedit?
