Paste powerpoint 2004 slide with excel graph into word 2004

I am trying to paste into word 2004 a powerpoint slide which has an
excel 2004 graph pasted as 'picture' (the reason being i don't want to
include the whole excel sheet in the ppt pres). Somehow the graph size
changes when i paste the slide into word 2004, with a very horrible
result.

Pasting a slide with a microsof graph object works fine.

has anyone found a work around?

Word is very erratic when you copy & paste graphics. Not a workaround,
but perhaps a preferred method.

You might try making the excel chart sheet the first sheet in the
workbook, then close & save the file.

In the Word doc, use Edit>Insert, then click the From File button.
Navigate to & Open the Excel file. The chart will be inserted as an
inline graphic, so its best to have your insertion point where you want
the chart to go. Don't be alarmed by what happens whe the chart
appears. Cmd+Click the chart, select Picture Toolbar & click the Format
Picture button. Set the Word Wrap to whatever you need & use the corner
handles of the chart object to resize it proportionately. If you prefer
to leave it as an inline graphic (no wrap), you can still resize using
the handles or the Size page of the same dialog box. Text will behave
based on Wrap & sizing, so some reformatting may be necessary.

Hope this helps |:>)

By default, Word shrinks pasted pictures to fit the available space if they
won't fit at 100 per cent.

It is normal to need to resize a picture after pasting it. If you were to
encase your picture in a Text Box in PowerPoint, it would paste without a
size change. But I think you will find that you prefer to simply resize the
picture when you get it in. That's because text from PowerPoint is not
totally compatible with text in Word: Word cannot rotate text like
PowerPoint can. So there's always some adjustments to be done.

Cheers
