PASTE SLOW IN WORD 2007

Though the cut or copy functions are quick, the "paste" within one document
is tediously slow, even if I'm only copying one word or character. I use
previous versions of word on an XP and Word 2007 on MACs at work and both are
infinitely faster than this. Can anything be done?
