Paste Special - bitmap does not display on page

Hi folks,

I'm using Word 2003 and when I copy eg a table from excel and past special
as a bitmap into Word - it copies OK but does not display on the page in
Print Layout, Web Layout or Normal layout. It's just a blank box.
It's only when I print preview that I can see it.

Also - it doesn't allow me the option to format object when I right click on
it.

I'm thinking a setting must have changed somewhere because this is usually
how I handle paste special items.

Appreciate any help anyone can offer.

On the View tab of Tools | Options, clear the check box for "Picture
placeholders."
