Paste Special

D

Dan

Just installed Office 2008. Tried to past-special a linked excel spreadsheet in Word. All I get in Word is a portion of the spreadsheet. I've done this many times in previous versions of Word. Can't seem to figure it out.

Yeah - this is a known bug for which there is no current fix or workaround -
other than pasting as something other than a Link :-(

Take advantage of Word's Help> Send Feedback & stoke the fire a bit. We're
hoping for something positive to be done, but if & when are questions we
can't answer... The more negative feedback MS receives the more likely they
are to address it.

There is a way, but I don't like it so much:

Insert>Object>Excel Spreadsheet.

Give it a try, it might suit your needs,

Hi Corentin -

How was the show?

Unfortunately 2008 is still restricted to 5 columns by 10 rows using that
method:) I had the impression the OP wants to include more content than
that.

Pretty good: Lots of people, lots of questions :)
A very good edition indeed,

Yeah, that's definitively not optimal for everybody, but it's the only
option I know for this kind of thing right now :-\

FYI, the same applies to PpowerPoint. It's an Office 2008-wide issue.

Sorry I couldn't be there, but the budget is a bit too tight:) I hope the
assemblage wasn't too rough on you & the others - I'm sure there were some
"disgruntled" members of the citizenry out to shoot the messengers.

But at least in Word - not sure of PPt - you can paste as a table rather
than as a spreadsheet & I think the linking works as well if you do... will
have to play with it a bit to refresh my memory. Hopefully the entire OLE
thing will be improved in a [not too distant] future update.

Not yet :-> Office was just out the door at this point and people were
either coming with Office 2004 questions, or to ask what was new in
Office 2008.

Well the problem is not limited to table. It affects charts as well. I
usually never embed tables actually, but I often try to embed Excel
charts in presentations (and why not, in Word documents),
