paste tasks as a link to a different .mpp file

When I paste a task as a link to a different mpp file (my destination file), the link apprears invalid upon reopening the file
When I reopen the destination file containing the link, MS Project can not connect to the source file linked, if I try to edit the link, the source appears to be unavailable, if I try to reedit the link, and browse for my source file, MSProject tells me that the source file is invalid.
I have 8-9 source files, this happens with all of them
This happens also I have the source file open before opening the destination file
All the files are on the same drive
I am using MS Project 2002.
