pasted obect is smaller

when I paste a small object around 3 x 3 inches (copy + paste special from
autocad dwg file) the object is placed on the page pretty close to it's
actual size

but when I copy one that is 7 inches long it gets distorted
I have used the format object to re-size it
but if i specify 7 inches it still only prints at about 6-5/8"

I have to be able to print object at it's actual size

I have over 2000 drawings to do like this into publisher

I have tried "paste special" to preserve the size
The object is inside the page margins
The size of my objects vary so I it is difficult to guestimate how much to
increase the size for each object

any Help would be greatly appreciated

Do you have the same problem when you insert? I take the drawings into Corel,
size and then paste special into Publisher. I don't have an AutoCAD program,
just the .dwg images.

I'm surprised you can copy/paste .dwg images. I can paste into Corel, but not
Publisher. In any event I'm not getting the re-sizing of these images when I
print. AutoCAD images sometimes have invisible elements, it has something to do
with the 3D rendering.

Is your printer driver current?

YUP tried all the different ways to insert

I am actually using Autosketch (not Autocad, wish I had it)
running on windows vista business

It allows me to paste very easily from autosketch and I make certain that no
extra info etc.... is included in the clipboard
I clean up the image first and apply the correct scale

I like using the dwg files as the curves are very crisp, if I convert to jpg
or similar the curves are antialiased and look yukky

Most of the images are under 5 inches so they paste pretty exactly as I need
them
It's the larger images that cause the headaches they just don't behave as
expected
it appears that the clipboard puts a small margin around the image.... this
margin GROWS as the image gets bigger
on a small image the margin is hardly noticable certainly not enough to
worry about

On any image over 6 inches I have been doing
1) insert a text box then format -resize the box to the exact size i need
2) paste the image over the text box
3) drag the image until it fills in the tex box outline

a bit slow but it works
I just have to be careful

takes about 2 minutes to do a 5 inch
add an extra minute for a 6 to 7 inch
2000 images = 10 days of copy paste, save

Thanx

Have you tried a table? Create a one cell table, right-click, format table, size
it to your dimensions. With the cursor in the table, fill, fill effects, picture
tab, browse to the image.

Have you tried converting to .wmf or .emf? They are vector formats, you won't
have the yukky (yucky).

Instead of a text box, create a rectangle the size you need, right-click, fill,
fill effects, picture tab.
You can give the autoshape no line.
