Wen I create a new email message in entourage 2008 on my MacBook pro 10.6.1,

and paste a link in the body of the new email

It doesn't link to anything.

How does one get web address linked to text?

Entourage only makes links out of URLs, not out of other text and the URLs
have to begin with http://, like the one below, for Entourage to recognize
them.

One of Paul Berkowitz's scripts listed on the MVPS web site may help you if
you want to make hyperlinks out of text:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/script/fav_scripts.html#favscript09>
I haven't tried them, however, so I have no personal knowledge.
