Pasting and keeping the source formatting by default

I recently switched to XP and office 2002. In this
version of PowerPoint I can't seem to get a paste from
the clipboard to automatically use the source
formatting. This will also fail for a drag and drop
within a test box. A right-click/paste does work,
however. In the old version (2000 under NT) this was
never an issue. I also don't get the little icon that
prompts you to choose cource or destination format. Any
words of wisdom on how to make PPT2002 work like PPT2000
would be much appreciated.
