Pasting data from Excel to PP - Font problem

I have a Dell gx260 running a dual monitor setup with an Appian
graphics card. When I paste data from Excel 97 to Powerpoint 97 the
font is illegible. I've tried changing fonts, resolution and color.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Thanks for your help.

What's happening to the font? Is it shrinking? Becoming jagged?
Something else?
