Pasting from Excel into Project 2003

When I try to paste a number field from Excel into the
Outline Level field in Project, it always defaults back to
1. How can I get it to paste the correct Level number
without having to type it again in Project?

Thanks...

Use an import map instead.
from file menu, pick open, find the excel file and follow the wizard to
create/select the map.

The outline level of a task can no greater than 1 deeper than the level of
the task immediately above it. For instance, if Task A is at level 1, task
B underneath it can be at 1 or 2 but not 3 or more. If task B is at 2, task
C can be 1, 2, or 3 but not 4. If task C is at level 2, task D can only be
1, 2, or 3. Could this be the source of your trouble?

Steve,

I tried it. You can't do a paste into the outline level column and get
anything but 1.
The import map is the way or paste into a text field then use some code to
set the outline level.
