pasting into a find dialog

Excel for Mac 2004 (Version 11.2) periodically does not allow me to
paste data from the clipboard into a find dialog box. Has anyone else
had this problem? It seems like it only started recently. As an
aside, it also recently required me to start using a semicolon to
separate arguments in a function. Once again, any common experience or
solutions would be appreciated.

Does this happen consistently? What OS version are your running?

I've had occasional problems with windows not getting appropriate focus,
but usually quitting and restarting the application fixes the problem
(I've had this happen in Office and other apps).

Excel picks up the decimal separator, which it uses as an argument
separator, from the System Prefs (System
Preferences/International/Region). Note that you'll have to quit and
restart XL after changing your System Prefs for the change to take
effect.

Thanks for the hints. I run the latest version of Tiger (Mac OS X
10.4.3 (8F46)) and consistently have this problem. Generally, it
occurs after having opened a number of excel workbooks; after opening
the third or fourth file, I lose the ability to paste into the "Find"
dialog. I can't imagine that this problem also relates to my Regional
settings, but for the record, I have this computer set to Spanish on
the input menu, but Estados Unidos (United States) as the region (with
the associated decimal separator "."). Weird that I would have to use
the semicolon in this instance, but I will just live with it. Thanks
again.
