Nice job fixing the problem of Powerpoint 2008 crashing when saving file with pdf pasted into a slide. No more crashes. BUT, now I can't paste and pdf or picture into a slide. When I try nothing happens. Thats one way to solve the problem. Have to save the item to be pasted as a pdf, then drag that file onto the slide to get it into the presnetation. C'mon guys. Office 2008 is a mess...very slow, lots of these time consuming issues. Do the right thing.

Sorry, but you're not communicating with MS here - this is a user-to-user
forum which may be peeked at once in a while by someone from the company,
but not with any reliable degree of frequency. Those who do typically aren't
the ones that have to do with development & design of the software.

What I can tell you is that pasting to slides is *not* a universal issue, so
your problem must be local to your system/situation. However, without
details about what you're copying, where you're copying from, etc. it's a
bit difficult to offer any meaningful suggestions.

Looks like I have a similar set of problems. I'm running ppt on a two year old MacBook Pro. I've had the machine with this version installed since 2006 but hadn't attempted to use the ppt. app until today.

I'd used ppt. frequently and successfully for years at work prior to acquiring this computer and app. when I retired.

So...I know how to set up a basic ppt. slide show as well as add bells and whistles. Naturally I was surprised when I couldn't drop anything into any slide. With everything I attempted from Word documents to photos I get a screen message beginning:

"PowerPoint cannot open the type of file represented by...."

....followed by the particular file's address.

Sometimes there will be an additional bit about the file possibly being corrupted or damaged.

At first I thought it might be the result of using TIFF files for the first time but old trusty jpgs didn't work either.

I even went to various photos and docs I knew had been used successfully in ppt. presentations in the past with the same result.

I've gone through as many settings and preferences menus as I can find and enabled ppt. to open "ALL DOCUMENTS" with no luck. Several times ppt. appeared to be attempting ot open but then crashed. I tried opening and converting some images to different formats both in Photoshop and Graphic Converter but ppt. still won't recognize them.

Please understand that nobody here can provide any valid suggestions without
meaningful details. There are several different versions currently in use as
well as numerous variations of OS X. That information is *critical* for
issues of this nature.

Also, jumping into another thread because it seems to be on a similar
subject bypasses the prompts for that information, not to mention that your
responses get tangle up with the others & makes it more difficult for
everyone to follow. In this case your problem simply can't even be related
because the original message was submitted by someone using Office 2008.
According to your post your version of Office has been installed "since
2006" but Office 2008 wasn't even released until January of this year.

Please submit a New message - not a Reply - providing the complete details
surrounding your situation and I'm certain someone will be glad to help out.

Thanks for your cooperation,
