pasting into Word 2000 very slow to unresponsive

If I try to copy and paste a line of text or a page of text from the internet
into my Word 2000 document it takes 2-3 minutes to 5-10 minutes to actually
paste. It used to work very fast. I am running WinXP-home with AthlonXP
1700 and 512mb-ram. All updates done; viruses checked and adware
removed...any suggestions???

Close Word and all other programs.

Search for a file called Normal.dot OR Normal
which is a Microsoft Word template.

Rename it and your issue will be fixed

Thank you so much for your answer...it now works as quickly as it did when I
first installed it on my computer. I wonder if this file could be a culprit
in other office applications?
