Hello,
I'm not quite sure what you are trying to do, so I'll try to answer your
question as best I can.
Several Smartart diagrams include picture placeholders. You can click on the
picture placeholder icon to have the Insert Picture dialog come up, then
select an image that you have saved to your computer (on the Desktop, in
your Pictures folder, etc).
If you don't want to use a diagram with a pre-existing picture placeholder,
you can simply paste a picture into your slide and position it with the
Smartart graphic. If you want them to move/resize/etc together, you can
group the picture and the Smartart together. Note there is no way to "add" a
picture to the Smartart itself.
You can also copy a picture, select the edge of any object in the diagram to
select it, then paste your picture and it will add the picture as a picture
fill for that object (so if you have text in the object, it will be
retained).
Also note, there is no way to "add" a picture to the text pane (that is,
inline with the text input into the Smartart).
Hopefully this answers your question. May I ask what you are trying to do?
It could be you have a valid scenario that we aren't properly addressing at
the moment, or perhaps we are and there is another way to go about what you
are trying to do.
