Pasting PPT slides into Word

On 23 March 08, Michael Bintener offered a solution to copying slides into Word, by first creating a pdf of the slide and then using Insert>File>Select file. I have the same problem as other who need to create Word documents with literally hundreds of embedded slides. Unfortunately, the above fix - which should work - does NOT! Trying produces the error message "This application cannot open this file ......". I have tried to simply cut and paste the pdf of the slide - with the result that the slide border was deleted, and text on the slide was deleted. Anybody out there know what to do?

About the only thing you can do for now is to convert the slides into PNG
and paste them in as PNG (same as Michel suggested, but save as Pictures and
specify PNG as the format, not PDF).

PNG will retain the colour and stay relatively crisp. Don't use JPEG, it
will go fuzzy.

Sorry: It's a damned annoying bug and I wish they would get a move on and
FIX it.

Cheers

How are you going about it? The post you referred to goes back more than 5
months & a lot has changed since then :) Even so, saving slides as PNGs &
inserting them into a document presents no problem. The message you reported
suggests that you are trying to *open* the PNG with Word - that most
certainly doesn't work since Word isn't a graphics editor. Using Insert>
Picture> From File produces no such message here. But that process isn't
necessary anyway...

I also have no problem copying a slide in PPt & pasting it into a Word
document. Control/Right-Click the thumbnail in the Slides Pane of Normal
View or in Slide Sorter View, copy, paste into the document. Works fine here
with 2 small caveats - a low memory message appears warning to save the
document (but OK completes the paste) & you can only copy one slide at a
time. Other than that all works like a charm.

Have you kept up with the Office updates? This is with Office 12.1.2, 4 GB
MBP, OS X 10.5.4 with disk permissions repaired.

IIRC, the copy/paste issue was addressed in the 12.1.0 SP1 - at least I've
had no problem as I indicated in my reply to the OP. Now if they'd only
implement the File> Send To> Microsoft Word feature as richly as it is in PC
PPt - or at least fix what is there...
