Pasting - where did it go!

INSERT, PAGE, hit ok and I get a blank page of the same scale(1cm =0.1mm),
etc. as the one I created the page from. Great.

I make original page active again, EDIT, COPY DWG. Hourglass shows it's
doing it's thing...
I go to new blank page, and paste. Objects don't appear - even though
something did happen - because if I go to EDIT again, UNDO PASTE shows as an
option. Most of the time I deal with these objects out in "never-never land"
by zooming out, but there something is wrong. Normally the first "zoom out"
command takes you to the object (and you can see their coordinates of like
(-37,5)) but the program justs zooms out from a blank page as though there
was nothing there....

I can of course always draw a box around the contents, COPY, and then PASTE.
But I don't get hidden or turned off elements from the original drawing. Even
so, the program still drops them out in "timbuktu" and I can't use SIZE and
POSITION command because my objects are not grouped... entering anything in
the pop-up window will only distort all of my objects at the point. I have to
drag them all (painstakingly) back onto the page...

What's going on here? Some type of control seems missing.
