Patch Package?

I am trying to do they repair installation of Microsoft Office 2000 three,
but whenever I try to do this I get a pop-up window titled “Windows
installerâ€, with the following message:
“This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows installer patch package.â€
What is this patch package and how to lie till the Windows installer where
to go look for it?
