Pattern fill

How do you fill an object with a pattern (i.e diagonal lines or dots) as
spposed to a gradient or picture? I'm in PP 2007 and can't figure it out.
Thanks.

Pattern fills have been removed in PPT 2007.

You could create your own pattern swatch in an image editor (or by drawing
lines on top of a filled shape in PPT and then save that as a picture) then
fill your shapes with that pattern image.

Patterned fills are no more in PPT 2007.. Are you joining Echo in the grief
cycle at their demise?

Really? Why would MS eliminate patterns in the new version?
It was a particularly useful design element, particularly if you are
printing in B & W.
Thanks.

Well, apparently not enough people used pattern fills. I agree they're very
useful, but I also understand that they're used by such a small subset of
users it's hard to justify expending the resources on them.

In addition, black and white is just not a priority at all for the PPT or
Excel devlopment team, as far as I can tell. I mean, have you tried to print
a chart in B/W yet? (Don't get me going; I've been b!tching about poor B/W
since PowerPoint 2002 was released, and I promise you it's not gotten any
better.)

I found that I can create a rectangle in Word 2007, fill it with a pattern,
and drag it onto a PowerPoint slide, so there's another way to work around
this disgusting limitation.
