Patterns on excel charts only print in solid colour

Patterns on bar graphs cut and pasted from Excel into a Word document only
print in solid colour. How can I print with patterns showing on the bar
graphs?

Update - If I paste chart as a bitmap in my word document it will print
exactly as displayed on screen. However my word document is now huge. Is
there a better way of ensuring my patterns on bar charts will print?

Heather -

Those patterns are a legacy from 20 years ago when dot matrix printers
provided 72 dpi output. If you look closely at your printouts, you'll
see the patterns, but they are reduced by the fine resolution of your
printer (300 or 600 dpi makes those patterns look like shades of gray
from a normal reading distance).

Some people suggest switching the foreground and background colors in a
pattern. I just avoid them altogether.
