Paying Project to Convert Word Macros to Apple Script

Hello,

I use twenty-four Word 2004 macros for my editing projects, and want to move them into Word 2008, which would mean converting them into Apple Script. Is this a project anyone would undertake? What sort of cost might it entail?

Thanks,

John

Hi John:

The answer depends entirely on how complex the macros are. The kind of
macros that I write would take about a day each to convert, so that would
work out to be around $14,400.00 for an experienced developer at standard
industry rates,

Figure on about half that if the macros are simple and/or the developer is
really good.

On the other hand, the next version of Microsoft Office will be available
next year, hopefully "early" next year, and it will run your existing macros
unchanged.

Your call :)

Cheers

Hi John,

Published reports suggest around December, 2010 is the target for the
next version of Office for Mac, and that it's a target - not a promise.

Thanks Jim:

I was "hoping". OK, December 2010...

Still, 14 grand is a lot to pay rather than wait a year...

Cheers

Surely your Joking! If so I'll just stick with Word 04 an 08.

Bedsides I got to come up about 3 K to either get a Desktop or Laptop
first.

Hi Phillip:

No, you have misread the post.

What I am saying is that the original poster may want to wait for the next
version of Office. Then he will not have to pay to have his macros
converted to AppleScript. Because VBA is back in the next version.

What Clive is saying is that if he were to install a copy of Office 2004, he
could use his macros now. Just: not in 2008.

Now hurry up and win the Lottery and stop your complaining :)

Cheers
