Payment Tracking for a Task

Does anybody know any 3rd party package, web part or addin that can associate
payments to a task?

Here is the problem I am trying to resolve. Tracking payments to a task.

For example: Project manager has project with tasks. As work is being done
on the task, customer makes payment to the tasks. Customer can make full or
partial payment. Project manager would like to track the payments.

I have thought about an enterprise code for task for payments. This could
work but not user friendly.

Do you use the baseline?
If not you can enter the payments (total for tha task, not as transactions)
as baseline cost such that you will automatically have a variance.
The alternative is indeed to work with custom fields.
