PC reboots when saving Publisher doc

Some computers in a lab at our college will reboot every
so often when you try to save a Publisher document. It
only happens about once or twice a day, with different
student users, on different PCs. We run NetWare (Novell
network) on Windows2000 PCs @ 2.4Ghz w/ 256Mb RAM.

If the PCs rebooted during a variety of actions (or no
action at all) I would look at the power supplies of the
PCs. But it only seems to happen, infrequently, when
trying to save a Publisher document. Upon reboot, the same
student can open the same document on the same PC, and
save it normally. I'm baffled. I've searched the Microsoft
knowledge database and found nothing. Any leads?

Only odd thing about that lab is that IE6 is loaded, but
some (poorly written) software install changed the
registry to make the PC think it had IE4 instead. I went
back and changed the registry value to previous setting.
Since then, the automatic Windows update caused errors
trying to update to IE6 sp-1, and has since been disabled.

Doug what you describe is unknown.
Believe it or not, video drivers can be an issue with Publisher when saving
a document, and Publisher will crash or freeze, but never ever have I heard
of the computer re-booting.
I would suggest you check to see if there is an updated driver for your
video cards, and yes, while video card drivers may seem remote from your
problem, trust me, it is the most common fix in Publisher for the type of
issue you are describing.

Always post the version of Publisher you are using.

Thanks for the tip, and yes I should've specified
PublisherXP (2002). It just so happens that before the
semester started, I ran Windows Update, etc... in that lab
and one of the items was a new video driver for Intel
chipsets.

Once again thanks for the lead!!!
