I have word XP (2002) on my old PC. I have now switched to Mac. How

If you're referring to the Word documents you've created the files should be
fine with the Mac version of Office. Software for the Windows operating
system, however, will not run on the Macintosh operating system, nor will
Mac software run on Windows.

You'll either have to purchase Office for Mac or you'll need to install a
compatible version of Windows on the Mac using one of the following:

A- Boot Camp partition,
B- Parallels Desktop, or
C- VMWare Fusion

You can then install Word XP on the Windows partition in Boot Camp & be able
to boot your Mac as either a Mac or as a Windows system - but not both at
the same time. On a Virtual machine created with B or C you can run the
Virtual Machine while you're running OS X & switch back/forth at will.

Another alternative may be CrossOver which doesn't require installing a
version of Windows, but I don't know if Word XP is compatible. In fact, I'd
highly recommend that you verify compatibility across the board regardless
of which route you take.
