I have PDF forms. I want to enter data in them and be able to fax them in
an electronic format. I
don't want to have to process paper and envelopes and stamps. I have Word
from Office2003. WinXP Home. USR Fax modem. Can I open/convert these PDF
forms
so I can enter data? Convert to Word?

It's usually better to fill the forms in Acrobat or Adobe Reader, but
you may have some trouble getting that to work with your fax software.

You can try converting the PDF to a Word format. BCL Drake does a
pretty good job re-creating the appearance of forms; however, you will
probably have to add text boxes to the individual fields to allow you
to type in the information. You can download a free demo of BCL Drake
from our website at http://www.bcltechnologies.com.

Another option would be to convert the pages to images, and use an
image editor to add text in the appropriate fields. If you have the
full Adobe Acrobat, you should be able to save the pages as TIFF or
some other type of image format.

I've solved this problem by converting the PDF to an image, cropping
1/2 inch from each side, pasteing it into a blank Word doc with 1/2
inch margins and inserting text boxes for data entry.
Using a scanner will give satisfactory results, esp. if it is to be
faxed.

If you use Drake, you should get a Word file that looks just like the
original form. You would have to fill in the fields by adding text
boxes (just as you would if you had an image of the file pasted in
Word). You wouldn't need to print out the PDF or the Word file, as
long as your fax process can handle Word files that contain text
boxes.
