PDF Attachment Fix/Workaround

For those that have run into this issue where entourage locks up for several
minutes every time you click on a message with a PDF you can do the
following:

Go to your Entourage menu, then preferences. Click "View" and then uncheck
"show attached pictures and movies in message". This will prevent entourage
from hanging 3-4 minutes trying to preview the file, however you will then..
Not be previewing images in e-mails, obviously.

But how do you know if the message contains a PDF without getting locked up
first?

BTW, what view do you use?" Preview pane below" or "on the right?" Have you
ever tried toggling the view to "none" rather than changing the preference?

I imagine you don't. You just do without the option...unless someone can
figure out a solution.

You don't. You just turn off the setting and then can't preview attachments.
If you try to open the PDF up in Preview then, it will hang preview, and you
can force quit that. But the Entourage lock-up is avoided. I imagine the no
preview pane would work - however most of us get enough messages that I
don't think disabling the preview pane altogether is an option.

Diane,

If you'd like a PDF that will cause this issue I can forward you one so you
can investigate.

Thanks

Please do. Zip the message then attach so I don't get caught in the crash.
