PDF colors no longer match MS Word logo colors

This is kind of a PDF/Word question, but I'm hoping someone here might be
able to help... We recently upgraded from Acrobat 6 to Acrobat Pro 8 and now
have problems getting the right color in the PDFs for our logo. With Acrobat
6, we could print our logo/letterhead in both Word and PDF formats, and the
colors were the same. (The logo/letterhead is in Microsoft Word and contains
yellow and green squares.) With Acrobat 8, however, the PDF colors are
markedly different from the Word colors (the bright gold is an dull
earth-tone orange), and we cannot get them to match again--since it is the
company logo, we need for the colors to be consistent. We’ve tried to change
different color settings, both when making the PDF and when printing, but the
PDF version always prints with the exact same earth-tone orange. We have a
Xerox Tektronic Phase 7700 color printer, and when we print the Word version,
we can select different printing options, such as Automatic (the default),
Office Color, Press Match. We usually just use the default of Automatic, and
in Acrobat 6, this worked fine. But with Acrobat 8, the colors are the same
no matter what printer setting we use. Does anyone know a way to “unhook†the
new PDF from its color settings? We have Windows XP, with Word versions of
2000 and 2003.

What is the full process you use to create the final PDF?
