PDF Creation Cannot Continue Because Acrobat is Not Activate?

See Subject. PPt 2003. Acrobat 8.1. If I'm in PPt and use the Adobe PDF
button along the top, I get the msg in Subject. I've had something similar
happen with Word 2003, but I've managed to get around it somehow.

If I go directly to Acrobat and try to create a pdf from the ppt file, I get
no further than 48? and things stall badly. This is a familiar problem with
Abat. Don't know the solution. If I beat myself silly, I might get it.

OK, how about ppt viewer? I have it on my system somewhere. I'm trying to
enable a friend to read my ppt. He needs it. I'd like to make the pdf from a
ppt that is read-only.

Ah, yes. I recall the solution.

I'll pursue these approaches another day. I'll just settle for getting my
friend a viewer.

Why not just use File | Print and choose the Adobe PDF printer driver?
I tried that, and it gives me the msg in Subject. I just tried it to make
sure, and noticed I have SnagIt as a choice. I wonder ... It looks like
SnagIt takes an image of whatever page I'm on. That could get tiresome. 24
pages.

That's not the same as File | Print. Do they both give you the error
message?

What makes you think SnagIt takes an image just because you're on a page?

If I use Print-FILE->PDF Adobe, it fails as in Subject. If I use the Adobe
PDF menu and select Convert to PDF, it fails with the Subject msg too. All
roads lead to Rome.

There are links to viewer downloads here:

Simplest thing would be to send him the link, have him download and install the
viewer, after which he'll be able to view your PPT.

In order to make a PDF, you have to be able to print it one way or another.
If the PPT permits printing, print it to your Adobe PDF printer driver
(bypassing the toolbars that Acrobat installed).

Yes, I'm working on that angle. I have the ppviewer for XP, which I've sent
to him. I haven't heard back from him whether it worked or not. It works for
me.

Crazy. I got back from a 4 day trip, and rebooted my PC. Acrobat Pro had no
trouble with the conversion of the ppt files to pdf. I'm headed out Sunday
for 2 weeks.
