One of my users is operating Windows XP pro in an Office 2003 suite.
When using Outlook, one particular PDF file doesn't want to attach itself to
an email. Strangely enough it can be attached to an email on my computer.
Other PDF files can be attached to emails on this users computer just like
mine.
It doesn't appear to be anything wrong with Outlook or the PDF since both
mine and they're computers can open the PDF when browsing through the network
drive to its location.
Something else that might help work this one out, I used a workaround where
I attached the PDF to an email and sent it to the user, asking them to delete
my signature and the subject line and send it accordingly... if the user was
to double click on the file before the email was sent, it did nothing.
I've seen a fix for this problem on a forum somewhere saying...
1. Open REGEDIT.EXE and go to Edit -> Find... In the Find dialog box type
"OutlookSecureTempFolder" without the quotes and locate that registry key.
2. That key will contain the actual folder location, and will look like:
C:\Documents and Settings\%USER_NAME%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\OLK#\ (where # is a random letter or number)
3. Copy the location of that folder.
4. Click on Start -> Run... and paste the folder location from step #4 then
click OK.
5. Windows Explorer will open that folder. Please, delete all files present.
6. Restart Microsoft Outlook and you should be able to open your attachments.
I tried this but it couldn't find the file OLK17 (which is what the registry
said). The exact same procedure worked fine on my computer and the OLK50
folder opened.
Microsoft KB198083 describes exactly what the error message says when trying
to attach the PDF.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
