PDF to Word 2003 errors

Using Acrobat Pro 7.0, patched to latest last week, to open a document and Save Ss MS Word. It does work, and not too badly after the latest patches (it used to just get Rich Text!), but we are working many, many documents with hundreds of pages of techy info, and can't afford time to proof the details of the entire thing.

Some problems I see:
There is an umlaut-y character where the document had indented paragraphs. What is it? Any way to global replace it with tab?
There is a space added before some indented paragraphs and also before the return at the end of a paragraph.

The latest patches to Word and Acrobat have fixed much of this, but wondered if anyone has a better way to go from PDF to Word 2003 without purchasing or installing something else; (this is a workplace, we cannot install new software without jumping thru hoops, and end document has to meet other folks' formatting and cannot have stray formatting commands from a third party in there).

Thanks for any others of you who've bumped into and resolved this conversion.

Any time you go from .pdf to a Word doc your results are going to be sketchy
at best. I assume that the original documents were not created with Word?
