pdf version

We have a pdf with current version 1.6. The pdf needs to be version 1.4
(Adobe 5). Is there a way to convert this pdf to version 1.4 without going
back to the word document it was created from? There has been much review
and changes made to the PDF and we'd rather not redo our work. Thanks for
your help.

According to the information for Adobe Acrobat 6 that I have installed on my
machine, it will make .pdf files that can be read by Version 5 of Acrobat
and the Reader.

Thanks for your reply - I do have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional. I looked
in help section, but didn't see anything. Can you advise?

Print it to .pdf again and review the options. On the Adobe PDF settings
tab, it says
"Use these settings to create Adobe PDF documents suitable for reliable
viewing and printing of business documents. Created PDF documents can be
opened with Acrobat and Adobe Reader 5.0 and later."

That's been standard for some time. It's the default setting. Why don't you
think that someone with that old a version of Reader can read your file?
