PDFMaker - can't get rid of it

A

Ann Norcross

OS X 10.2.8
Microsoft Word X for Mac Service Release 1
Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0
All of Microsoft Office is installed
Adobe Acrobat 5.0 is also on the computer

I understand that PDF Maker causes my Microsoft Office applications to open
slowly. I don't want PDFMaker. I always use Distiller.

I've followed the directions for deleting PDFMaker.lib from the Microsoft
Office X folder... And that does fix the problem... But it won't stay
deleted! It re-creates itself. Which program is responsible for this
(Acrobat or Word) and how do I make it stop?

I've also deleted pdfmaker.dot.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

After you've deleted the PDFMaker files, the next time you launch
Acrobat you'll get an alert box that says something like "a component
is missing. Repair?" Click "No," or equivalent, and "Do not show this
message again." That should do it.

If you don't get that alert on Acrobat launch (perhaps the "Don't show
this message again" box was previously checked), check Acrobat prefs
for whether or not to show that message.

Hope this helps.

I deleted the Word folder inside the startup folder inside Office,
rather than just the PDFmaker.dot. That worked for me. Now that damn
toolbar doesn't appear.
