Pen Colors Fade to black

I downloaded the trial version of OneNote to a HP tc1100 tablet pc running
windows xp tablet edition. I have changed pen colors frequently without
incident in other software so I know this issue is isolated to OneNote.

Whenever I select a pen color (including a custom color) it will draw in
color on the screen but as soon as I move the stylus to a different part of
the page, the color fades to black.

I have tried a detect and repair with no noticeable difference.

Any suggestions on what to try next.

You most likely have high contrast set for your system - that causes colored
ink to display in black.
