Percentage Formatting

I am trying to format an access database percentage (set up as a Double -
Percent - 2) in access as, for example, 2.50% in word. My mergefield looks
like this:
{MERGEFIELD Merit\#0.00%}
Unfortunately it keeps returning 0.02% rather than the 2.60%. Can you tell
me where I am going wrong?
