Percentage formula needed

MJM

I have not used Excel formulas for a while (need to take a refresher course)
but in the meantime I am in need of the formula that will calculate the
percentage below correctly when I enter more numbers in the response count
column. Response percent column is C and response count column is D.

Answer Options Response Percent Response Count
Always 25.0% 3
Usually 50.0% 6
Sometimes 16.7% 2
Rarely 8.3% 1
Never 0.0% 0

Thank you---I really appreciate any help.

C2 is
=D2/SUM(D:D)

, formatted as %. Fill down.

I tried what was suggested and it did not work. My total number is 38
participants so I need to know what percentage for the number of people who
answered in each response. Thanks

Where does 38 come from? In the table you've given us, you show 3+6+2+1+0 =
12 responses. How does this turn into 38?

Also, responses of "it did not work" are very unhelpful, and can only lead
to more questions. Telling us what result you got, and what you wanted
instead, will save you a lot of time.

Regards,
Fred.

How did you calculate the percentages in the column, "Response
Percent"?

Is your total number always 38?

Thank you Fred for the input, I appreciate it, as I am new on these boards.

I actually figured out out myself and it was quite simple, as I knew it
would be.
