Percentage not reflected clearly?

When I enter 50 in a field formatted as percent, the figure results out to be
0% upon hitting enter however, upon inserting 55 the result is 100%. What
could be the reason?

Open the table in design view and change the field to single or double (you
will most likely have long intergra)

Also if you think abouyt 1 (one) being a whole - thats 100%, then 50% must
be .5

So change the field format and enter .5

Could you have the field set to integer? Integer will just give you integers.
No decimal places at all. Or you could have decimal places set to 0.
