Whenever I am working with a file that is stored on a network in Word 2002, it takes 5 to 10 seconds to do anything with the document, including open, close, save copy from, paste to. After opening the network document the document freezes for about 10 to 20 seconds before I can work with it.
I don't have any performance problems when working with a file stored on my local machine. I have had my network card replaced recently since encountering the problem and it did not help. I have no problems like this when working in Access or Powerpoint with network documents. Excel is a little slower with network workbooks than with local workbooks but not as bad as Word.
Other users on the same network with Office 2002 and similar PC's are not having this problem. I have installed all updates for Office 2002 and Word 2002 from Microsoft.com and tried reparing my Office XP installation from the CD.
Can anyone offer any more suggestions for solving this speed issue?
TIA
Jeff
