Performance problems with word templates.

I have a word template which has worked fine until now in earlier versions of word (Word 2000, Word 2002). It is for a customised fax, accepts from,to,phone etc in a dialogue and places them onto the document. However, when it comes time to type the message the performance is very slow. It's quite easy to for keyboard input to get well ahead of the screen. However, if the user clicks at the end of the document, then back to the text entry point it all works fine?

Ooops! I meant to add the the problem has only appeared since I installed Office XP 2003.
