How do I successfully totally disable the task pane in all cases i.e. new
documents, clipboard, research, thesaurus, find, whatever, etc. and replace
it with usefull dialogboxes? (as in previous office solutions)

Replace Word 2003 with Word 2000.

You can disable *some* of the task panes in 2003, but they are an integral
part of the application.

If you don't need the new features and interface, why did you 'upgrade'?

Wrong answer! but unfortunately I belive you are rigth - thanks.
My whish is because I do not like "upgrades" which: changes or makes
shortscuts more dificult to use.

/Yrsanix,

PS Company PC - not leaving me a change to choose wheter to upgrade or not.
