Permanently Eliminating Format Frames in Word

T

T. Ronald Herbert

I'm using MS Word 2002 on an XP platform. I find
the "format frames," which are generated automatically
with every new document, to be nothing but a nuisance.
They can be removed manually from each document, but that
is an unnecesary task. It is particularly painful when
doing numerous file inserts. How can I get rid of those
frames permanently, i.e., stop them from being generated
in all newly created documents and with each insert. (I
never had this problem with earlier Word versions.)

Hi Ronald,

I'm assuming you're referring to the Drawing Canvas,
which is the MS Draw Add-in from earlier versions now
built in. You can change the default appearance behavior
of the Drawing Canvas in Tools=>Options=>General

It's still avaiable through Insert=>Picture=>New Drawing.
