Permission Denied to Access Global Resource during File Import

Hello everyone,

Here is the issue I am currently facing:

Configuration:
3 Clustered App Servers with Project Server Installed in Win 2003
Server

1 Seperate SQL Server

Numerous Enterprise Gloab Resources setup in PWA - using Windows
Authentication.

A resource with Admin Rights (Admin Rights in a group and admin rights
to all projects in a category (option to allow all current and future
projects is selected) accesses Project Server through Project Pro 2003.

He tries to Import a Local Project that has a local resource with the
same name as Enterprise Resource.

When he reaches the page where the Import Wizard notes that the local
resource has the same name as the Enterprise Resource, he selects the
option to Map the Local to the Enterprise Resource.

He hits continue. (Next)

After spinning for a minute or so, an error message saying the
following is generated:

"There was an Error Opening the Enterprise Resource Pool.
You may not have sufficient permissions to access the selected
resource(s). Would you like to retry or cancel?"

There are then a series of cryptic errors that looks like poor error
handling on MSPS.

Any thoughts on what the cause of this may be?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

He needs Admin rights to all current and future resources as well. Hope
this helps.

Dale and others,

Thank you for the response. The issue ended up being on the
Admin/Server Configuration section, The Account Creations permissions
were all set to explicitly deny. Changing the Account Creation -
Create Accounts from Microsoft Office Project fixed the issue.

Thanks again!

As you have now learned, using a Deny permission can create unintended bad
consequences. Our company recommends that you never set permissions to
Deny, except in the most rare of circumstances. Most of the time, a Not
Allowed permission (neither Allow or Deny is checked) will take care of most
of your permissions needs. Hope this helps.

I wanted to share my company's scenario to this post since it deals with the
same error message but in a different circumstances. Also Microsoft's
knowledgebase forwarded me to an article regarding a hotfix installation
which I suspect is not the correct route after reading your post. A user
assigned to Project Manager Viewing Privileges tries to open Microsoft
Project Professional to open their project plan and gets the error message
detailed in previous posts. My manager assigns it to the fact that other
Enterprise Resources assigned to this project have greater or equal Viewing
Privileges and therein lies the issue. Would this be resolved by granting
additional privileges to the user who is getting the error message since they
are the project manager? And what privileges would those be?
