Permission problems with the administrator account!!!

Hi,

I have been experiencing some problems when logging to the server(MS PRO
2002) with the adminstrator account. It seems that I have lost high level
permissions: Cannot see project center or ressource center, cannot open
projects any longer...but I still can manage other Admin functions.

I have made some changes in the groups and categories permissions, but since
the administrator settings are not accessible, how can I restore the account
and how did it happen in the first place?

Has anybody encountered this problem?

Thanks.

When you say "the administrator account" do you mean the built-in Project
Server authenticated account? Or do you mean your own account with Admin
privileges? The best way to cleanup this type of problem is to use the
built-in account, which should be fairly immune to these problems.

Hi Gary,

I'm quite new at this job. I think it's the built-in Project Server
authenticated account but I have to admit that I'm not sure (I have used
Project server in the past, but not as an administrator):

1)The account name is "Administrateur" which is the french for
administrator(we're using an english version of the software though).
2)When I try to modify this user by the "Modify user" menu, I can see every
options but I can't select them! (everyting is gray).

I can see that all the global permissions are in the "Allowed" state, but
all the High level permissions are in the "Not allowed" state. I would like
to be able to allow those permissions again, since this is the account I was
using to create and publish all our enterprise projects.

Since this incident, I have used an other account to manage the system and
republish all the projects, but I would really like to restore this account.

Hope you can help.

Hi Gary,

I can't logon using the account administrator. Either the account does not
exist or there is a password and I don't know it.

Is the built-in administrator account modifiable through the manage user
menu? There is no such account in my list: only an account called
"Administrateur".

I am told by people here that MS Project was first installed in English,
then, reinstalled in French. But our Project Server is still in English. This
might cause some problems but I don't think this the reason of the problem
I'm experiencing right now since I've been able to run with this setup for
three months. The problem appeared after I made some changes in the
categories permission.

Thanks for taking the time!

Jan
