Permissions and Groups

Dan Pickard

Hi,

We want to be able to give access to all the projects to a group of Partners
responsible for IT. What permissions/groups would we need to setup? The
Partners will need the ability to refine the reports we have provided by
dragging and rearranging the titles in the pivot table. The partners should
not have permissions to amend the projects.

Many thanks

Dan:

Once again, you're asking questions that require a lot more factual data to
answer correctly. The executive group grants a user permission to the OLAP
data, however there's a lot more involved than that depending on:

What other privileges they need
What privileges the shouldn't have
Where the partner sessions will be running (ie: Internet, Extranet, Terminal
Services, VPN)

Thanks again for the reply Gary I appreciate your time. We basically only
want them to be able to move things around with the reports and not be able
to change the projects themselves and this could be done via Internet or
Terminal Services.

Does the Executive group allow them to modify the project itself? If so, is
it possible to set up new groups with permissions to only view and manipulate
the reports?

Many thanks

Sorry, I made a mistake on that one, it would only be Intranet access and
not Internet or Terminal Services.

The executive group does not grant permission to change projects. It does
grant blanket access to data and other features that you may want to turn
off. You may need to clone the Executive group and remodel it to your
liking. Project Server security is very complex, as you might note by
reading other posts in the newsgroup.
