Permissions for a field

Hi..

I am creating an infopath form which i am publishing to a MOSS 2007.
The form has a number of fields including a rating field. The basic
issue is that i want only the rating field to be editable by any
visitors while the rest of the form should be readonly. The author on
the other hand can edit all the fields.

how do i achieve this. As far as i have been able to research we can
set permissions at a form level where the certain users cannot edit
the form. How do i restrict this to just a single field.

Thanks

Hello

Create another view in the form with same fields and all the fields made
read only except the rating field
Now switch to this view when the user is not the author

Thanks.. !!!
One more Question.... i can set up two roles .. one as initiator and
another as default....
How do i ensure that the owner is always the initiator..? as in the
2nd time the owner opens the form he should be back in the original
view. I would need to retrieve the username of the creator of the form
from sharepoint and add it to the initiator role...!???
