Permissions for Project versions (back up)

Hi,

We are saving back up version for the project plan in the project server. Is
there a way to set permissions for the back up version of the project plan
such as open only? or any other permissions to groups?

Thanks, Ein

Are you using versioning then for these backups?

I am assuming you want control over being able to edit these versioned
projects through Project Professional. You only want project managers to be
able to open the versions in read only.

How is security set up on your system. Do project managers have the ability
to open and edit all projects or just ones they own or ones they are team
members of? Depending on how this is set up, there might be a way for you
to control read/write access by changing the owner of the versioned plans to
the administrator. If project managers only have the ability to see or to
open/edit plans which they own, then this would work for you.

Hi,
Thanks for the answer.
We are using versioning for backups, we limit the permissions of project
managers to edit/open only their projects.
I tried 2 things that didn't work: 1. changing the owner of the versioned
plans, I don't see the project plan in the PWA because the type is considerd
as publish meaning both projects backup and ongining are the same so I can't
change the owner.
2. I tried to save the version as archive, but it only limits the publishing
of the tasks, but I can still modify the tasks which I don't want.

Please advice for other solution.

Thanks

Ein

Versioning does not allow you to protect non published versions from within
Project Professional. I do not have a good solution for you in this case.

Sorry.
