Permissions for Project Workspaces in Project Server 2007

John Freeman

Hello everyone,

I am trying to do two things
1) Prevent team members from deleting Issues
2) Prevent team members from accessing a custom list in the Project work
space that is created each time a project is published.

Is there a easy way to do this in Project Server 2007

I know that in PS 2003 permisssions were not stored in the Project Workspace
template i.e the .stp file.

I just wanted to know if there is a easy way to propogate permissions based
on the group in project server.

Thanks
John

Hi John,

You can set the permission on a project by project basis within each Project
Workspace. I have tried to include security changes into the template, but
that still doenst seem to work in 2007. Sorry
Hope this helps

could you clarifiy what did not work fro you ?

in PS07/PWA I loggin w/admin rights and then copied over a team member
template and slightly tweaked it. I have still yet to verify if permission
settings are carried over correctly !!

A headsup from you , will be appricated.

Hi /pd,

I have amended the team member security on a proejct workspace, made a
template out of the workspace, but unfortunalty the security did not carry
forward in the template :( I tried it with and without the content,
unfortunalty no luck :(

oh ok, that is project workspace. I thought that it was under new groups
within PWA that had failed.

you should crate a sharepoint group that mimic's some of the project "Team
members"permissions.

Not sure if using "Team member" security template for under PWA ..can be
ported into workspace. These are two different roles of permissons.
