Permissions setup question

I need to give my executives the ability to open a project in Project 2003
professional. Would the following be the best way of accomplishing this?

Modify Exec Group
- Select ‘My Organization’ allow ‘Open Project’
- Global Permissions ‘Read Enterprise Global Information’ allow

thank you dave

How about adding the executives in question to the Project Managers group?

I could add the few users (that need read access) to the Project Managers
group however i would need to limit their access to read only. If i added
the users to the PM group i would be giving those individuals more
permissions than needed. Does that logic make sense? (or do i not see
something)

I was trying to use an existing group/permission set for this purpose.
thx

This will work so long as all execs need this ability. Just make sure
they do not have Save Project rights.

If your execs absolutely need to be able to open the project Read-Only in
Microsoft Project, then you should NOT include them in the Project Managers
group. Instead, do the following:

1. Log into PWA with Administrator permissions
2. Click the Admin menu
3. Click the Manage users and groups link
4. Select the Executives group and click the Modify Group button
5. In the Categories section of the page, select the My Organization
category from the list on the right
6. In the Permissions grid of the Categories section, select Allow for the
Open Project permission
7. In the Permissions grid, make sure that NEITHER Allow or Deny is
selected for the Save Project permission
8. Click the Save Changes button

Based on your reporting needs, I do question why your executives need to
open the projects in Microosft Project. Why can't they use the Project
Center and Project views in PWA instead? Hope this helps.
