Using Word for Max V.X deleting text containing a footnote does not delete
the footnote. Suggestions?

Hi Evan,

You're sure the footnote reference you are deleting and the footnote belong together?

Double-clicking on either footnote reference (in the text, or in the footnote area) should take you to the other footnote reference.
If that doesn't happen, something is botched. Likely, some footnote references were manually overtyped or custom-numbered, so that the numbers in the text and in the footnote area don't correspond with each other.

To debug the mess, you can use "Edit > GoTo", choose "Footnote", and type in +1 or -1 to go to the next/previous footnote.
That works both in the text area and in the footnote area. If you found some buggy footnote, copy the footnote text (without the reference), delete the footnote in the text, and reinsert it.

If the footnotes are very messed up, you can do this for all footnotes with one of the macros from http://groups-beta.google.com/group...328163fa2c4/afdfeb0e3d19da11#afdfeb0e3d19da11

Regards,
Klaus
