Persistent screen error

I'm running Word 2002 SP-2 on Win XP on an internal network. I very
frequently end up with a horizontal rectangular area of my screen blocked out
by a snapshot from the screen of another open application that just get's
"stuck" on my Word document. No scrolling, minimizing, restoring or anything
else gets rid of it. I keep having to shut down Word completely to clear up
the problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
