Persistent "Standard" calendar

D

Dytham

A Project 2003 user has spent a lot of their time in creating a new calendar
containing public and corporate holidays for many years ahead. Lets say it is
called "Corporate".

Using Project Information dialogue, calendar Corporate has been named as
base calendar for the project.

Problem: When a new resource is added, their Base Calendar is still being
set to default of Standard.

Attempted work-arounds of getting rid of Standard to then rename Corporate
are prohibited.

I can see no solution other than to re-do the work in tailoring Standard.
Can anyone else ?

Calendar Standard seems to be sacrosanct !

Hello Dytham,

I know it's of no solace to you now, but this has been addressed in
Project 2007 -- the base calendar for resources defaults to the
project calendar.

For Project 2003 and earlier, the default base calendar for
resources is the "Standard" calendar. Sorry, I don't know of any
way to change that default. I would just suggest to your user that
s/he use the Resource Sheet to create new resources and always check
the base calendar field. The fill handle is very handy for setting
the correct base calendar to multiple resources.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Dytham,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

When you add a new resource, from the Resource sheet view, double-click on
his name to open the Resource Information dialog. From the General tab,
click Change Working Time. At the top, from the Base Calendar pick list,
select the Corporate calendar.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

I was trained to do daily scheduling in a chemical plant. we work several
schedules
across several crafts. I have different schedules built like your corporate
schedule. When a different schedule is needed, I apply the schedule within
the Resource sheet for that craft. A general schedule which most crafts work
is applied on the Project Information page. this allows me to schedule 8, 9 &
10 hour days across several crafts.
